The integrity and reliability of Trans-Niger Pipe (TNP) infrastructure remain critical to the safe and efficient transportation of hydrocarbons within the Nigerian oil and gas industry. As part of ongoing asset integrity management routine inspections, activities are carried out to identify anomalies and defects that may compromise pipeline performance and operational safety.
Following the outcome of the routine inspection activities on the 28” TNP Nkpoku-Ebubu pipeline at Rumusunwo, Eneka, several integrity concerns were identified which required prompt remediation to prevent potential failure and ensure continued operational reliability of the pipeline system. In response to these findings, a Post Post-IP Defect Repair by Sectional Replacement on the 28” Nkpoku-Ebubu was approved as the most suitable corrective measure for addressing the identified defects.
The sectional replacement approach involved the controlled removal of the defective portion of the pipeline and installation with a newly welded and buried 6 lengths of PE coated spool that meets the required engineering and operational standards. This method was selected to permanently eliminate the identified anomalies, restore pipeline integrity, and ensure compliance with industry safety and operational standards.
